Summer is usually my favorite season - sun, surf, beach, skirts, old friends, home, summer love...for some reason this summer feels different.

Emptier.

Why?

Perhaps because everyone has graduated and I feel left behind.  Graduation celebrations are so empty when you know you will be going to class in the fall.

Perhaps because home is not the same when the most important people are missing.

Perhaps because I have summer school.

Most of all I think perhaps because I know exactly who I am missing but I will never admit it, even to myself.

Promises.
What is a promise?
Promises
meant to be broken.
Mind
not strong enough to control
emotions.
Heart
so easily broken.
Resilience
gone.

Defeat
Surrender

Settle.

S.C.U.B.A.
How come I never realized how expensive it was before..? SCUBA is like golf for people who can swim! It's a total rich person's sport for sure, and definitely much more tiring than I had ever expected.  Who knew it would be deathly hard to crawl through the surf with like 30 pounds of crap on you, and a 7mm wetsuit that feels like mideval armor?  The only thing that makes me get in that freezing ass highly polluted LA county water is knowing its only practice for some of the most beautiful tropical diving in the world.  Gump Station, Moorea, Tahiti..... I can't wait!

******Oh yeah, if anyone knows of a place for sublet during winter quarter PLEASE let me know..I am still homeless and all the places I have looked at so far are either gross or extra gross or have extra gross people livng in them...ICK.

A cute animal story for the wildlife lovers:

Tsunami Survivor

NAIROBI (AFP) -
A baby hippopotamus that survived the tsunami waves on the Kenyan coast has formed a strong bond with a giant male century-old tortoise, in an animal facility in the port city of Mombassa, officials said.

The hippopotamus, nicknamed Owen and weighing about 300 kilograms (650 pounds), was swept down Sabaki River into the Indian Ocean, then forced back to shore when tsunami waves struck the Kenyan coast on December 26, before wildlife rangers rescued him.

"It is incredible. A-less-than-a-year-old hippo has adopted a male tortoise, about a century old, and the tortoise seems to be very happy with being a 'mother'," ecologist Paula Kahumbu, who is in charge of Lafarge Park, told AFP.

"After it was swept and lost its mother, the hippo was traumatized. It had to look for something to be a surrogate mother. Fortunately, it landed on the tortoise and established a strong bond. They swim, eat and sleep together," the ecologist added.

"The hippo follows the tortoise exactly the way it follows its mother. If somebody approaches the tortoise, the hippo becomes aggressive, as if protecting its biological mother," Kahumbu added.

"The hippo is a young baby, he was left at a very tender age and by nature, hippos are social animals that like to stay with their mothers for four years," he explained.

I botched the dye job and my hair turned blond/orange like a skanky asian ho.  Very sad story including late night Target run in a hat with the sister laughing her ass off, to get chocolate brown dye, which didn't really stick, so I'm just gonna let it fry at the beach like it always does.  So sad, so sad.

Speaking of which, one of the least attractive things on the planet is the dumb skanky asian girls who decide that dying their hair PLATINUM BLOND is a good idea...uhhhh, that would be a resounding NEVER!  And what's up with the green contact lenses too?   Damn it looks so creepy and unnatural..EWWW

Summer school sucks a fat hairy buttcheek with zits.  Philosophy is the biggest load of crap I have EVER heard about in my life...how is it even a valid major?  Oh man, that plus i have 8am class 5 days a week.  Why did i have to be such a dumbass and so fall so far behind?

My only joy left this summer is that I get to go surfing everyday afer class...call if you wanna join in the uber freezing coldness at 9am.
